Comodo took Google’s Chromium, tweaked it to enhance its security, and came up with Comodo Dragon, a browser that is fast, has a user friendly interface, can be customized, and helps you stay safe and secure. Using its experience with Dragon, Comodo tweaked Google’s Chromium, applied the security enhancements from Dragon, applied some extra privacy protections, and ended up with a new browser called Chromodo. It mixes together Chromium’s speed with Dragon’s security protection and with some very appreciated privacy protections.

The system requirements for running Chromodo are: 128MB of RAM, 140MB of free disk space, Windows operating system (any edition from XP onward). As expected, a setup wizard will help you install Chromodo on a PC that meets these system requirements.

During the installation process, said setup wizard will inform you that, with the aim of enhancing security against web based threats, Chromodo comes with the following two extensions:
Chromodo Web Inspector – scans websites for malware and signs of malicious activities.
Ad Sanitizer – offers protection against advertising based threats.

During the installation process, the setup wizard will ask you to set Chromodo as your default browser and will want to replace Chrome. It will ask to import your history, favorites, passwords, extensions, and other elements from Chrome, and it will ask to update Chrome shortcuts on your desktop and quick launch bar so they use the Chromodo logo and open Chromodo when clicked.

Chromodo comes bundled with McAfee’s SiteAdvisor extension. It gives websites security ratings so you know to avoid potentially dangerous websites and it automatically scans the files you download for threats.

Chromodo is free software. Comodo Dragon is freeware as well. And Comodo IceDragon is freeware too. Chromodo and Comodo Dragon are the company’s Chromium-based web browsers. And Comodo IceDragon is the company’s Firefox-based web browser.

Comodo’s Chromodo web browser mixes together Chromium’s speed with Dragon’s security protection and with some very appreciated privacy protections.

Pros

The system requirements for running Chromodo are very low. A setup wizard will help you install Chromodo on your Windows PC. Chromodo is based on Google’s Chromium; consequently, it’s fast and easy to use, just like Google’s web browser. Chromodo comes with some extensions and some tweaks that focus on security, safety, and privacy. Chromodo is free software.

Cons

It tries hard to completely replace Google Chrome.
